          VOKI: A DYNAMIC TOOL FOR                                     TEACHING ENGLISH 


                     What is Voki?
    Voki is an artistic, easy to use tool, that motivates and enhance learners to participate in the learning process. In simple words, Voki makes the teaching and learning process fun. Furthermore, students love to create Voki because they can personalize the character as they want.
      
        Ways to implement Voki in the classroom
    Sometimes it is difficult for teachers to teach no boring lessons. Here there are some ways in which Voki can be implemented in the class.
    

        1.  In a speaking class. 
            Let students be creative. Voki could be used in a speaking class. The teacher can assign homework asking the students to use this tool. It will be less boring for them to create a Voki character and record themselves talking about what they were asked.

    2. In a speaking project

          Let the student use their imagination. A funny way to use Voki in class is to ask the students to record their voice talking about a specific topic. For example, for the MEP's mini-project, when the topic of athletes biographies is being taught, students can create their favorite athlete and talk as if they were those people. 

     3. Guessing who I am. 

      Let students to get fun. For a warm-up or some classroom activity, the teacher can ask students to create a Voki. This Voki has to describe one person and they have to guess who that person is. This will be useful to practice vocabulary, physical appearance in this case.

      Through the years, students have implemented some techniques in order to make easier the learning proccess.  There are many different types of techniques learners can use to study, for example, mind maps. "Mind mapping, a form of visual outlining, may seem superficial, but once mastered it provides a powerful tool for managing information overload and the hyperbolic multitasking of the modern world. " (Woods, 2009)




     What is Mind Maps?

     A mind map is prevelant tool in education. It is technique that help you to organize  the most important information. It allows you to analize the most important points  and ideas. It is easier for you to learn from mind maps because they contain the most important aspects of the reading. 

    What are the advantages of Mind Maps?

•  It works as a recall strategy.    It trains your mind for more efficient retention and recall.   
• Concise information. Since you use words or short definitions, all the most relevant information is in the mind map allowing you to think and learn.
• Understanding. It helps you to understand and not only to memorize.
• Mental associations.  It helps you to associate the information.

      Advices to Make a Mind Map.

• Use key words, symbols, and pictures packed with meaning and association that work for you.
• Weave them together by color, positioning, outlines, or arrows.
• Go over the topic you want to learn.
• Use de most important concepts from the most general to the most especific.
